Truman State Professor Charged With Patronizing Prostitution

A communications professor at Truman State University has a court appearance scheduled for next month in Adair County Circuit Court. Fifty-seven-year-old Barry Poyner is charged with patronizing prostitution. He is accused of offering to fill up an undercover detective’s vehicle with fuel in exchange for sexual acts. Poyner was caught in a sting operation after police got more than one anonymous tip he had been using the app Grindr to harass male students at the university for sexual contact.
