Truman Splits With UMSL On A Day The ’99 Men’s Final Four Team Is Honored

The Truman basketball teams split with Missouri-St. Louis on a day the 1999 Bulldog Men’s Basketball team was honored for their Final Four appearance 25 years ago.

The Truman men exploded in the second half for a 73-60 win over UMSL. The Bulldogs were trailing by nine with just over 16 minutes left when they went on a 40-to-13 tear…..

Brad Boyer with the calls on Superstation KRES and The Bulldogs went 10-of-13 from the arc in the second half. The freshman Porter matched his season-high with 13. Coach Jeff Horner said he was one of the reasons for the big finish….

Trey Shearer led Truman with 17 and Xavier Hall scored 11 and dished out nine assists. The Bulldogs got back to the .500 mark in GLVC play at 6-6 and improve to 9-11 overall. The Tritons dropped to 6-7 in the conference and 8-13 overall. Truman is 7th in the new Point Rating System (PRS) rankings, which determine the top eight teams that advance to the GLVC Tournament.

The UMSL women used a 30-16 second quarter to pull away for an 80-61 victory over Truman. Minus the conference’s leading scorer Jalysa Stokes, all five Triton starters scored double figures. Bulldogs coach Theo Dean said they didn’t get stops….

Clare Rake went 6-for-6 from the field, including four three-pointers and led Truman with 16 points. The Bulldogs drop to 5-15 and 2-12 in the GLVC. The Tritons improve to 9-12 and 7-8 in the conference.
