Truman Splits With Drury

The Truman men won their third in a row, while the women lost, but a Bulldog senior reached a milestone this afternoon (Sat) at Pershing Arena.

In the men’s game, Casen Lawrence hit the game-winning three-pointer to give Truman a 68-63 win over Drury. The Bulldogs were down 61-58 with over four minutes left and outscored the Panthers 10-2 including Lawrence’s dagger with 48 seconds left….

Freshman Matt Haefner scored a season-high 20 points and eight rebounds. The Bulldogs get back to the .500 mark in GLVC play at 4-4 and improve to 7-9 overall. The Panthers drop to 3-7 in the conference and 10-7 overall.

In the women’s game, Ellie Weltha grabbed her 1,000th career rebound, but Truman lost to Drury 92-82. The Bulldogs trailed by 17 points late in the third quarter before a rally got them within four…..

The freshman, Joyce, finished with a season-high 24 points. Coach Theo Dean was pleased with his team’s play, even though his team couldn’t quite get over the hump…

Weltha scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds. Gracie Neff also had a double-double with a career-high 13 points and dished out 10 assists. The Bulldogs drop to 1-9 in the GLVC and 4-12 overall. Beth Matas-Martin scored 28 and Caitlyn Daniels had 26 for Drury. The Panthers improve to 8-3 in the conference and 13-4 overall.
