Truman Splits At Quincy-Horner On Personal Leave-Beardsley Acting Head Coach

Truman lost at Quincy 83-75 in Josh Beardsley’s first game as acting coach Saturday. It was announced before the game that head coach “Jeff Horner is on personal leave and Beardsley will serve as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the 2022-23 season”.

The Hawks led by as many as 14 in the first half and were still up eight with over 14 minutes left when Trey Shearer made it a one possession game…

Brad Boyer with the calls on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Shearer led Truman with 16 points. Eight different times the Bulldogs were within two but couldn’t draw even or take the lead. Beardsley said his guys responded well….

Malik Hardmon scored 23 points for Quincy. The Hawks improve to 14-12 overall and 10-8 in the GLVC. The Bulldogs drop to 12-14 and 7-11 in the conference.

The Truman women never trailed in beating Quincy 67-51. The Bulldogs had their double digit second half lead cut to single digits one time with six minutes left in the game. A five-point trip the result of a flagrant foul keyed a ten-point run that put the game away….

Hannah Belanger led all scorers with 20 points. Both Ellie Weltha and Fanning had double-doubles. Weltha had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Fanning had 12 points and ten rebounds. Coach Theo Dean watched his team hold Quincy to 28-percent shooting from the field….

The Bulldogs improve to 18-8 overall and 14-4 in the GLVC to remain in 2nd place. The Hawks drop to 11-15 and 7-11 in the conference.
