Truman Plays Jewell Post-Holley Era
For the first time in 40 years, the William Jewell men’s basketball program is under the direction of a new head coach. Chris McCabe comes from a high school across town to take over for Hall of Famer Larry Holley, who won over 900 games in his career. Truman State will resume conference play against the Cardinals Thursday night in Liberty. Bulldog coach Jeff Horner was asked if their opponent looks different with the coaching transition….
The Cardinals are 5-4 and lost their Great Lakes Valley Conference opener to Rockhurst in December. Jewell is led by Eysan Wiley of Columbia, at 17.6 points per game. The son of Macon native and former Moberly coach Kristie Douglas, is the leading rebounder in the GLVC at 9.7 per game. Coach Horner says they will need to keep him off the glass…..
