Truman Men Narrowly Miss Another Upset In A UIndy Sweep
The Truman men nearly pulled off their second straight upset of a ranked team, before 7th ranked Indianapolis completed a doubleheader sweep with an 83-76 victory on their home floor last night (Thur.). The Bulldogs fell behind by 16 points with 6 minutes left in the first half, but came all the way back to grab the lead in the second half…..

The ‘Dogs increased their lead to five points with just over seven minutes left, but couldn’t offset a large free throw deficit. The Greyhounds had 29 attempts from the line to only six for Truman and scored 20 more points, led by Kendrick Tchoua with ten free throw makes, 22 points, and 10 rebounds. Hunter Strait led the Bulldogs with 25 points and Elijah Hazekamp followed with 21. Coach Jeff Horner commented on how his guys turned the game in their favor…..
UIndy won their 13th straight game to improve to 19-2 and 11-2 in the GLVC. The Bulldogs drop to 10-12 and 5-9 in the conference.
The Truman women scored the first 13 points of the game but couldn’t maintain the momentum and fell to UIndy 75-72. The Greyhounds rallied back to take a three point lead at halftime. Down seven in the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored 11 in a row to go back on top…
Truman’s last lead was 58-56 late in the third. UIndy scored 11 of the next 13 points and held off the Bulldogs the rest of the way.
Hannah Belanger led Truman with 25 points and Alex Fanning had her biggest game in a Bulldog uniform with 24 points and nine rebounds. Coach Theo Dean talked about her performance….
Fanning went over 1,000 career rebounds for her career, to go with over 1,200 points. The Bulldogs drop to 11-3 in the GLVC and 15-7 overall. The Greyhounds improve to 8-5 in the league and 12-9 overall.
