Truman Men Continue Their Late Season Surge In A Split At SBU

Both the Truman men and Southwest Baptist women led wire-to-wire in a split in Bolivar Thursday night.

The Bulldog men continued their late season surge by shutting down SBU 61-40. The Bearcats only made one of their first 20 shots in falling behind 19-4. Despite their offensive woes the hosts were still within ten in the second half when Truman scored 11 in a row to put the game away….

Brennan Lovette scored 14 and Landon Eiland added 12. Truman has won 8-of-9 to improve to 12-7 in the GLVC and 15-12 overall. The Bulldogs are still 3rd in the conference’s PRS rankings, but by just .03 of a point ahead of Lewis heading into the final game of the regular season. SBU drops to 2-17 in the league and 6-21 overall.

Karlee Holland scored 26 points to lead the SBU women to an 88-74 win. Truman coach Theo Dean said it was tough to slow down the Bearcats on this night…

Molly Joyce matched a season-high with 24 and Ellie Weltha followed with 23 points for Truman. The Bulldogs drop to 4-17 in the GLVC and 6-20 overall. Tori Hamilton of Paris scored seven points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked two shots for SBU. The Bearcats improve to 7-14 in the confernce and 11-16 overall.
