Truman Loses To The Transfer Portal

The toughest opponent for the Truman State men’s basketball program going into next season may turn out to be the transfer portal. In the span of 48-hours this week, coach Jeff Horner appears to have lost three key starters to the transfer route….

Backup guard Sam Nissen also entered the transfer portal. Horner says he will assist each player in the next step in their career, but admits his program has taken a gut-shot….

A player entering the transfer portal can still return to the team. Horner says it’s a difficult position for the coach in deciding whether to wait or move on….

Coach Jeff Horner and the Bulldogs won 20 games and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year and could have had the entire roster back for next season.

Cade McKnight ends up 4th on the Truman career scoring list with 1,608 points. Masen Miller, who was also First Team All-GLVC, came up three short of the school’s single-season three-point field goal record with 98. Eric Northweather saved his best for last with a career-high 27 points in the NCAA Tournament loss to UMSL.
