Truman Has to Fight Off Avila With Career Highs
Both Maddie Re and Sloane Totta had double-doubles and set career highs but Truman State still had to fight to the end to secure a 78-74 victory over NAIA school Avila Friday night at Pershing Arena. Totta, had a career-best 10 assists to go with 16 points, while Re grabbed 16 rebounds and tallied a dozen points.
The game was tied for the final time at 38 when Truman went on a 14-3 run….

Truman guards Totta, Hannah Belanger and Katey Klucking combined to hit 10-of-12 free throws to finish the game. Head coach Theo Dean said they were finally able to close out a pesky Eagles team that hit 13-of-26 three-pointers….
Dean also got 15 points from Katie Jaseckas, 13 from Belanger and 10 from Klucking. The Bulldogs improve to 3-1 and will play next Friday and Saturday at the Drury Thanksgiving Classic against Northern Michigan and Central Missouri. Avila drops to 3-1. The Eagles were led by Taylor Faulkner, who connected on six triples and finished with a game-high 22 points.
