Truman Goes For 2 And Beats Tiffin In Overtime

Tiffin had 10 points on the board by the early second quarter and didn’t score again until the extra session. Freshman Denim Cook’s first career touchdown on a two yard run with 8:31 left in the first half made the score 10-7 at intermission.

The two teams were in a defensive stalemate in the second half. Truman’s last possession of regulation started with 2:25 left and was only kept alive by a 4th and 10 scramble pass play from Hair to Chris Kerr of 39 yards. That set up this chance to tie for kicker Grant Ross…

Nesbitt said his defense and punter Taylor Cornish, who had four punts inside the 20 yard line, kept the game in check until the offense made late plays to win it….

Isaiah Estes of Fayette led Truman in tackles with 10. Jacksyn Miller of Moberly saw time at end and made his first two solo tackles on defense. Matt Hall of Columbia had nine catches for 68 yards. Griffith finished with 75 yards rushing and scored a touchdown for the third straight game.

Tiffin, who was receiving votes in the national poll, drops to 2-2 with a late loss to Truman for the second straight year. The Bulldogs have won three in a row after a season-opening loss. Truman is off next weekend before starting conference play at home against Missouri S&T on October 8th.
