Six area players are part of a signing class of over 30 that became official today (Wednesday) for the Truman State University football program. Bulldogs coach Gregg Nesbitt only had to look across town to find a quarterback in Kirksville signalcaller Paxton Dempsay….

Dempsay set Kirksville passing records for single game (390), single season (2,300), and career passing (5,000), and for touchdowns in a game (4), season (22) and career (45).

Ryan Dabney played for his dad, John, at Milan High School and follows in the footsteps of his grandfather, who was a Bulldog great…..

Dabney accumulated nearly 4,000 yards of total offense as a four-year starter at quarterback and defensive back for the Wildcats. He was an All-State D-back.

Nesbitt is glad to keep the Monroe City pipeline flowing as defensive end Max Hays chose the Bulldogs….

Hays was a two-time All-State selection and will join former Panther teammates Jon Saxbury and Zach Osborn on the Truman football roster.

A trio of mid-Missouri seniors signed to play football at Truman State University, including a pair from the Tri County Conference. Bulldogs coach Gregg Nesbitt discusses the future of Mason Huskey from Hallsville….

Huskey was a All-State defensive back where he had five interceptions. He averaged 9.7 yards per carry and set school records for most rushing touchdowns in a season (24) and career (40).

Coach Nesbitt calls Southern Boone running back Tristan John one of the more intriguing players in the signing class….

John was a three-time academic All-State selection and earned All-State accolades on the Eagle track team.

Coach Nesbitt says Rock Bridge defensive back Peyton Carr may see early playing time….

Carr recorded five interceptions and posted 120 tackles for the Bruins.

The 2020 Bulldog class features 17 defensive players and 16 offensive players from five Midwestern states. Of the 33 players currently signed, 24 are from the state of Missouri, five from Illinois, two from Iowa and one each from Kansas and Oklahoma. The St. Louis metro area is the most represented with 12 players. Seven players come from the Kansas City metro area.
