Truman Block Party Key to the Bulldogs Win Over Jewell

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Tanner Lain of Kirksville was credited with the block and Matt Hall of Columbia got the scoop and score. The Bulldogs ran for 302 yards including this first quarter burst by Jaylen Jefferson that increased the lead.

Truman led 27-2 at halftime after an 11-yard touchdown pass from Nolan Hair to Jake Ellis and a two-yard run by Cody Schrader. Schrader led the ‘Dogs ground game with 142 yards and two TDs including a 66 yard run in the third quarter that answered the Cardinals’ first touchdown. Bulldogs coach Gregg Nesbitt said those punt blocks were key.

Ben Thomas from Blair Oaks High School led the Bulldogs in tackles with six. Mason Huskey of Hallsville got his first four collegiate carries, including a 35-yard run. Truman State improves to 2-0 in GLVC West side play. Missouri S&T also moved to 2-0 with a 48-34 victory over Southwest Baptist. The Bulldogs and Miners will play Thursday night for the right to represent the West in the GLVC Championship game. You can hear the game on KRES starting at 5:30. McKendree beat Quincy 30-8 on Saturday. McKendree and Indianapolis will play to see who represents the East side in the GLVC title game.
