Truman Athletics Hall Of Fame Will Induct The 1970-71 Mens Basketball Team This Weekend

The 1970-71 Bulldog Men’s Basketball Team will be honored with induction into the Truman State University Athletics Hall of Fame as part of this year’s Homecoming festivities this weekend. The team was picked to finish near the bottom of that year’s Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Association conference standings. However, after dropping the first game of the season to Quincy, the Bulldogs won 11 of their next 13 games.
Coach Boyd King’s squad finished with a record of 18-9 overall and their 9-3 conference mark gave them the MIAA title for the first time in 11 years. It also earned the Bulldogs a national ranking and the right to host an NCAA College Division regional tournament. The Bulldogs would win the first-round game over North Dakota State 75-66, but fell in the regional championship game to Kentucky Wesleyan 60-48.
