Truman and Maryville Split Overtime Games

Fans at Pershing Arena got their money’s worth Thursday night as Truman and Maryville split a pair of overtime games.

The Truman women outscored the Saints in the opener 99-97. The Bulldogs led by as many as 21 in a 34-point first quarter explosion. Maryville roared back and with a 12-point run early in the third went on top. The Saints were up by three late when the Bulldogs inbounded…

Ellie Weltha scored 22 points and moved into 4th place on Truman’s career rebound list (776). The Bulldogs improve to 10-2 in the GLVC and 14-6 overall. Antoinette Mussorici scored 33 points for the Saints, who drop to 6-6 in the conference and 11-8 overall.

The Maryville men turned the tables in winning 71-68 in OT and ending Truman’s three-game winning streak. The Bulldogs came from 12 down in the second half to get the game to overtime….

Brandon Kracht hit a 3-pointer with 23-seconds remaining in the extra session to make it 69-68 Maryville. Jaeden Smith hit two free throws to give the Saints a three-point lead, and Trey Shearer missed a game-tying three with 0:09 left in overtime. Kracht hit five three-pointers and scored a season-high 17 for the Bulldogs and coach Jeff Horner….

Maryville moved a game in front of Truman at 5-7 in the GLVC and improve to 12-8. The Bulldogs drop to 9-11. Dylan Peeters scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
