Tractor Sales Remain Strong Despite Softer June

Tractors and combines continue rolling out of dealerships across the U.S. at a faster pace.  The monthly sales update from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers showed that while tractor sales last month fell 13 percent compared to last year’s sudden jump in activity, year-to-date sales are up nearly 17 percent.  Curt Blades, senior vice president for ag services, says sales of larger equipment continue to increase from year-ago levels.

Combine sales increased four percent year-over-year in June and are up 11 percent on the year.  The continued rise in sales, along with supply shortages, has dealer inventories down more than 40 percent from a year ago.

Curt Blades, senior vice president for ag services with the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, says economists anticipate continued growth in tractor sales as the ag economy strengthens.
