A field in eastern Saint Charles County stayed dry enough in 2019 to produce the highest yielding non-irrigated soybeans in the state. Brian Steinhoff says with only one-fifth of his acreage remaining above water last year, he was able to focus on maximizing his yield.

The two-acre plot he entered in the contest posted a yield of 92-point-five-three bushels per acre. He says he hopes to take this year’s success and replicate it across his entire farm.

As the winner of the Missouri Soybeans Yield Contest, Steinhoff received gift cards to Cabela’s and for biodiesel, as well as a trip to Commodity Classic later this month in San Antonio.
