Taylor Bottomley and Haden Hackman Push Each Other to Central Methodist Track Success

Seniors Taylor Bottomley and Haden Hackman achieved great success during the 2021 outdoor track season at Central Methodist. Both Bottomley and Hackman were named All-Americans after taking podium finishes last month at the NAIA National Championships. Bottomley says part of their 2021 success comes from training together in 2020.

Bottomley was a thrower for CMU participating in the hammer throw, shot put, and discus. Meanwhile, Hackman participated in the decathlon which also incorporates the discus and shot put. However, Hackman says he did have to find some other training options when it came to the other decathlon events.

With Bottomley attending Harrisburg and Hackman competing for Glasgow, the two competed against each other in high school. That included the two of them competing against each other in the 2017 Class 1 State Championship. Bottomley placed second and Hackman took fifth in that event. Bottomley says that friendly rivalry allowed them to continue to push each other in college.

Bottomley will return to Central Methodist next year for grad school and his additional season following the COVID-19 cancelation of the 2020 outdoor season. Hackman will forego the additional season and will attend medical school in Monroe, Louisiana.
