Suspect Charged in Keytesville Murder

The Missouri Highway Patrol is reporting that, the Chariton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has formally charged 52-year-old Sherri L. Laws of Keytesville with 2nd degree murder of 38-year-old Jacob D. Abney of Grandview. Laws was also charged with armed criminal action, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, and delivery of a controlled substance. 50-year-old James M. Johnson of Keytesville suffered gunshot wounds in the incident and was transported to Moberly before being flown to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment. Laws is being held in the Chariton County Jail without bond.
