Summer Annuals, Greenchop Among Ways To Feed Livestock Amid Drought

Ranchers and livestock producers continuing to deal with feed and forage shortages have a couple additional options to deal with persisting drought conditions. University of Missouri Extension livestock specialist Gene Schmitz says one unusual idea is to plant a summer annual in pastures.
Another option is to harvest drought-stricken crops as either silage or greenchop. However, Schmitz warns not to harvest greenchop too soon after it rains.
