Strong Starts Guide Mexico Boys, Moberly Girls to Lopsided Wins

The Mexico boys and Moberly girls used strong first half performances to guide them to lopsided wins Friday night.

The Mexico boys raced out to a 30-8 lead after one quarter in a 75-50 win.

Austin Ward with the calls on Glory 97.3 and Coach Darren Pappas said everything was going well at the jump.

DJ Long, Jaydon Eldridge and PJ Perkins had 26, 19 and 12 respectively for the 18-2 Bulldogs. Moberly was outscored by just three over the final three quarters. Coach Brett Boyer said overcoming slow starts is about mentality.

The 9-11 Spartans were led by Cameron Doubrava with 13 points. BJ Godreau concluded with 10.

After being held to 25 points through three quarters, Mexico scored 21 in the final frame. Claire Hudson had 11 of her team-high 22 in that fourth. Grace Hudson had 10 in the quarter and ended with 16. Coach Makenzie Mudd was proud of her team playing through the end.

Moberly advances to 19-2 while Mexico falls to 9-11.
