State Fair Director Reflects On Advice, Stories From Senator Mathewson

Leaders and supporters of the Missouri State Fair are reflecting on the life and legacy of former state senator Jim Mathewson, who died Monday. Director Mark Wolfe says that whether it was at the state capitol or the fairgrounds, Mathewson was eager to help out newcomers and share his insight.

And that included Wolfe, who became the fair’s director in 2009.

Services for 83-year-old former state senator Jim Mathewson, who died Monday at his home, will take place October 22nd at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Sedalia. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service. Friends may sign the guest book October 21st from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Mathewson Endowed Scholarship, in care of the State Fair Community College Foundation.
