State Fair Director Explains Decision To Scratch Rodeo, Demo Derby

“Summer’s Best Story” at the 122nd Missouri State Fair will feature fewer chapters this August, as construction of a new State Fair Arena will mean no rodeo or demolition derby.  Fair Director Jason Moore says the new indoor arena will be larger than the previous outdoor facility, but it won’t be ready in time for this year’s fair.

Moore adds that he and other fair officials kept rodeo organizers aware of the timetable, and looks forward to hosting them when the new facility opens.

Missouri State Fair Director Jason Moore says the Coliseum and Mathewson Exhibition Center both already have full schedules for the fair’s 11 days, making it difficult to reschedule any of the displaced events.
