State Commodity Leader Sees Farm Bill Extension As A Chance To Regroup

Farm leaders are breathing a slight sigh of relief following passage last week of a one-year extension to the 2018 Farm Bill.  The measure had expired in September, but Congress agreed to extend its provisions to Sept. 30th of next year as part of the continuing resolution keeping the government funded past Christmas.  Missouri Soybeans policy director Garrett Riekhof says he and other commodity groups won’t pause for long before renewing their push for an updated Farm Bill.

Riekhof also identifies as another priority maintaining access to crop insurance.
