State Ag Leaders to Host Flood Ready Meeting in Brunswick
Missouri Farm Bureau and the Missouri Department of Agriculture will join several state and federal agencies Tuesday in Brunswick at a roundtable meeting aimed at preparing farmers for potential flooding in 2020. The “Flood Ready” meeting will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Knight and Rucker Banquet Hall on East Broadway. Farm Bureau says the meeting will seek to identify problems, answer questions, and provide resources for farmers as they not only continue to recover from last year’s flood damage, but also prepare for this year. Last year, over one-point-four million acres of Missouri farmland went unplanted because of flooding and excessive rain, while many roads and bridges still need rebuilt. Three other meetings are taking place next week; details on those can be found with this story on our website. Resources will also be made available on Missouri Farm Bureau’s website after the meetings.
