Stage Set for Class 4 District 7 Baseball Semifinals at Macon

Macon High School will be the site of Tuesday’s Class 4 District 7 baseball semifinals. The top-seeded and defending district champion Hallsville Indians will get their postseason account started with a contest against the fifth-seeded Mexico Bulldogs. The Indians defeated the Bulldogs twice this season. The most recent matchup was a 4-3 Hallsville victory in the opening round of the Fulton Tournament. Hallsville manager James Smith says they’re not taking Mexico lightly.

Hallsville enters the game with a 19-6 record and is ranked ninth in Class 4. Mexico snapped a ten-game losing streak Saturday with an 11-1 win over Moberly in the opening round of the district tournament. Mexico manager Daniel McCarty says that game should give his team some valuable momentum.

Game number two of the evening will feature a formidable matchup for the Kirksville Tigers who are seeking their first win over the Macon Tigers since 2021. Macon completed a regular-season sweep of Kirksville, as both engagements came down to a close one-run result. Kirksville manager Derek Allen says it’s all respect between the two sides.

Kirksville took down Centralia 4-1 in the district quarterfinal. Macon holds a 20-6 record this season, and are looking to take care of unfinished business after last year’s runner-up finish at districts to Hallsville. Manger Travis Mundahl.

Coverage for Hallsville-Mexico begins at 4:45 on Glory 97.3 and centralmoinfo.com. Colin Schowe and Steven Findley Jr will have the play-by-by.
