Specialty Growers To Gather In St Joseph Friday and Saturday

Two days of learning sessions await fruit, vegetable, and specialty crop producers this weekend in St Joseph at the annual Great Plains Growers Conference.  University of Missouri Extension field horticulture specialist Justin Keay is one of the organizers and says producers will have the opportunity to pick from several tracks of seminars.

Keay continues:

Seminars will also focus on certification for organic farming and a forum dedicated to the Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program.  Keay says a major component of the conference are networking opportunities for growers from four states, including state association meetings to wrap up Friday’s sessions.

The Great Plains Growers Conference begins Friday with a keynote address from Adam Montri of Ten Hens Farm in Michigan.  The conference will take place on the Missouri Western State University campus in St Joseph.  Additional details and registration are available on the conference’s website.

The conference is also co-sponsored by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Kansas State University Research and Extension, Lincoln University Cooperative Extension, and University of Nebraska Extension.
