Southwest Livingston defeated North Shelby 56-38 in an eight-man state quarterfinal contest Friday night. Senior quarterback Mack Anderson dominated with seven rushing touchdowns, and also had a passing one in the victory.

North Shelby struck first just under a minute in with a six yard touchdown run by senior Ethan Geisendorfer . Anderson scored his first touchdown after from six yards out and made it 8-6 Wildcats. Raider quarterback Dayton Mettes then scored back to back touchdowns before Anderson rushed in his second score. The Raiders held a 32-30 lead at half.

Southwest Livingston began with the ball to start the second half, and Anderson connected with Balazas Sturgeon on a 20-yard scramble drill to take the lead for good. Coach Oren Magruder discusses Anderson’s sensational performance.

The Raiders finish the season 9-3, and it’s also the winningest season in the four years North Shelby has played eight-man football. Head coach Seth Bass reflected on his senior class.
