Southern Indiana Making The Jump To Division I Leaving The GLVC

The Great Lakes Valley Conference will be losing another member institution to the Division I ranks. On Monday, the University of Southern Indiana Board of Trustees gave approval to make formal application to the NCAA for reclassification from Division II to Division I athletics. The next step is for Southern Indiana to be invited by an NCAA Division I conference and USI would begin competing at the beginning of the 2022-23 academic year leaving the GLVC at the end of this academic year. The Screaming Eagles have been members of the GLVC since 1997.

A couple years ago, Bellarmine left the GLVC for Division I waters. Before Truman State entered the GLVC in 2013-14, Northern Kentucky left the conference for Division I affiliation.
