South Shelby’s Season Ends With State Championship Loss

El Dorado Springs defeated South Shelby 61-26 in the Class 3 girls state championship at JQH Arena in Springfield Friday.

Eric Duick with the call of Emma Dovin’s three on Glory 97 and centralmoinfo.com. El Dorado responded with a 10-0 run and built its lead to 24-7 after the first quarter. Luke O’Laughlin’s Lady Birds then trailed 43-11 at half.

29-3 El Dorado Springs featured two guards who combined for almost 4,000 career points. South Shelby closed its season 25-5 with a conference championship, Monroe City Tournament championship, and Salisbury Tournament championship.

The Lady Birds return four starters. The senior Dovin scored seven. Junior Miranda Patterson paced the Lady Birds with 11.
