A graduate of South Shelby High School is going to lead Troop A of the Highway Patrol in Lee’s Summit. Lieutenant Steven Wilhoit will be promoted to the rank of captain and has been named commanding officer of Troop A. Wilhoit was appointed to the Patrol in 1996, and after graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 3, Linn and Chariton counties. Among his duties over the years, he served with the Division of Drug and Crime Control, Troop B Unit in Macon. He was promoted to sergeant on June 1, 2008, and remained in that assignment. In 2014, Wilhoit was promoted to lieutenant and assigned to the Division of Drug & Crime Control, General Headquarters, in Jefferson City. He was born in Shelbina, and graduated from South Shelby High School in 1987. In 1991, he graduated from Central Missouri State University, in Warrensburg, with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. He is currently attending the Missouri Leadership Academy.
