South Shelby Girls Secure Second Straight District Championship

The South Shelby Ladybirds won their second straight district championship with a 58-46 victory over the Palmyra Lady Panthers. Palmyra scored the first bucket of the second quarter to go up six but the Ladybirds scored 23 of the next 28 points to go to the break leading 31-19. South pushed the lead to as high as 19.

Belle Roush contributed 15 points. Palmyra went on a run midway through the third but couldn’t get any closer than nine.

O’Laughlin was happy with how his team handled the run.

Palmyra was led by Sydney Compton’s 15 points and the Lady Panthers close the season 21-7. Coach Timothy Southers loses just one senior and is excited for the future.

South Shelby improves to 24-4 and will play Duchesne, who won District 5 as a five-seed, Tuesday night at 7:45 in Hannibal.
