South Shelby Cruises to Road Sweep of Monroe City

South Shelby cruised to a road sweep over Monroe City Tuesday night.

The girls won 69-33 and were led by Kaylee Gaines’ 24 points.

Austin Ward with the call on Superstation KRES. Gaines’ 24 came by way of eight threes. Coach Luke O’Laughlin’s 18-2 Ladybirds used a 15-3 run midway through the second quarter to start pulling away.

The Lady Panthers drop to 8-11.

The South Shelby boys picked up a 59-36 victory. Jaaron Durbin started early.

Durbin finished with a team-high 10 points. Case Ratliff, who came in averaging just over three points a game, scored the first six points for coach Kent O’Laughlin’s Cardinals.

South outscored Monroe 19-7 in the second quarter. The Panthers got a game-high 16 points from Reece Buhlig. Coach Brock Edris said the Cardinals gave his team fits.
