South Shelby Boys Win Districts For First Time Since ’94

The South Shelby Cardinals are district champions for the first time since 1994 following a 39-22 win over the Palmyra Panthers. On a night when shots weren’t falling for either team, South Shelby worked inside.

Austin Ward with the calls on Glory 97.3 and centralmoinfo.com. Zaiden Wood finished with a team-high 11 points. Jaaron Durbin connected on the lone Cardinal three of the game.

Coach Kent O’Laughlin is proud of the team’s turnaround.

16-12 South Shelby has won eight straight games. The Cardinals’ 22-point defensive performance included holding Palmyra to seven first half points.

Palmyra got a game-high 14 points out of Bear Bock and the Panthers close the season 20-8. South Shelby will play Lutheran North at Hannibal Monday night at 7:45.
