Soon-To-Be Hall Of Fame Inductee Brian Meny Retires From Coaching

After 26 years patrolling area sidelines, Brian Meny has announced his decision to retire from education and coaching. Most recently the boys basketball coach at Battle High School in Columbia, Meny explained why the timing was right to step away….

The Paris graduate started his coaching career in his native Monroe County leading the Madison girls basketball program for eight years. Meny then shifted to boys basketball when he moved to the Van-Far district and eventually led the Indians to a state championship in 2004, during a nine-year stint. He coached boys basketball at Palmyra for four years and the last five years at Battle. Meny got what he wanted out of a coaching career….

Brian Meny won 515 games. He will be inducted in the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame this October in Springfield. Meny plans to join us for Magic City Sports Talk next Friday to talk more about his career.
