A La Plata graduate finished in a tie for runner-up at the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship at the TPC at Deere Run Course in Silvis, Illinois. Logan Smith of William Woods ended up four strokes behind National Champion Corey Matthey of Morningside, with an even-par score (284). Smith started the final round four strokes back but erased that and more taking a one stroke lead at his turn. Matthey had regained the lead by one stroke when he went to the clubhouse with a 4-under score. The former La Plata State Champion was still within one after 15 holes but couldn’t overtake the Morningside golfer. Ben Rebne of Dalton State caught Smith in the closing holes.

Due to last season being missed due to COVID, Smith has another year of eligibility.
