Smith-Cotton Ends Its Losing Streak To Spoil Red Out Night At Moberly

Mylan Hawkins scored four touchdowns and rushed for an unofficial 158 yards to lead Smith-Cotton to a 32-12 victory over Moberly Friday night at Dr. Larry K. Noel-Spartan Stadium. Brad Boyer with the call of Collin Huffman’s 57-yard touchdown toss to Martez Nabors on KWIX-AM and centralmoinfo.com. The duo later connected on a 35-yard score in the fourth. The Spartans only trailed 12-6 at halftime and a Hawkins 28-yard TD run pushed the lead to 18-6 after three. Hawkins also scored on runs of 4 and 49 yards in the fourth quarter to build a 32-6 lead.

Moberly turned the ball over on their first two plays from scrimmage. Along with three turnovers for the game, the Spartans made two snap mistakes on punts and muffed a punt. Coach Cody McDowell said it looked like an inexperienced team on opening night…..
