Slater Makes Move to Eight-Man Football Official

The Slater Wildcats are officially Missouri’s newest eight-man football team. The move was confirmed during a special meeting last week. Athletic director Dillon Yung says there was one main reason for the switch.

Slater was the smallest school by enrollment in Class 1 football this past season. Yung says the move to eight-man football will be beneficial in the long run.

The move takes effect this fall. One challenge facing the immediate move to eight-man football was creating a brand-new schedule. Yung says the solution came from a nearby school.

Slater spent the past three seasons as a member of the West-Central Conference. The Wildcats went 2-8 this past fall.
