Six Area Schools Advance To Scholar Bowl State

Next month’s MSHSAA State Scholar Bowl tournament will include three teams from the host city Columbia. Lidsky had ten tossups to lead the Lions, while Van-Far captain Cameron Jones was limited to four. The second contest was much closer, with Jones returning to form to keep the Indians within 20 at the half. Teammate sophomore Elijah Elliott claimed four between the two matches…

CIS will face Eugene, Galena and Polo in the Class Two round-robin semifinals May 6th at Memorial Union on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.

Columbia Hickman needed all three matches to deny Fort Zumwalt North a return trip to state in Class Six. The Kewpies will make their first appearance in the state semifinals since 2017. Tolton Catholic will make their first trip to state after sweeping Clark County in their Class Three quarterfinal at Kahoka.

North Shelby’s quest for a repeat title in Class One remains on track, after the Raiders claimed two wins at Union Star. In Class Four, Hallsville and Palmyra will face off in one of the round-robin matches, as Hallsville returned from Savannah with a pair of wins and Palmyra defeated Lutheran South in two games. Jefferson City’s season came to an end in Class Five after being swept by Saint Louis Priory.
