A Shelby county resident tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday afternoon. Shelby County Health Administrator Audrey Gough says they were notified about the case at 4pm.

The individual is in isolation and the department is notifying others who may have been in close contact with the individual. Gough says it’s too early to tell how the individual contracted the virus.

While it’s not known when the individual took its test, Gough says the communication to get the information out was quick.

Missouri has 255 positive cases of Coronavirus in the state as of Tuesday evening.
