Shelbina Lawmaker Concerned About the State Not Paying Its Bill for Housing Prisoners

Senator Cindy O’Laughlin is concerned that the state isn’t living up to its obligation to pay counties for housing prisoners they have to take. The debt is more than $38 million.
O’Laughlin says these are challenging financial times.
The Shelbina Republican says counties set their budget with state reimbursement for inmates in mind.
Randolph County is owed more than $126,000, dating back to September of last year.
