Multiple media outlets report SEC presidents and chancellors approved a 10-game, conference-only football schedule Thursday. The SEC plays eight conference games in traditional years. Organizers also postponed the start of the season to September 26th, and the league delayed the SEC title game two weeks to December 19th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Schools have an open date in the middle of the season and the week prior to the SEC title game. The full schedule will be announced in the future. Mizzou’s nonconference games against Central Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, BYU, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette are canceled. The ACC’s announcement Wednesday allows for one nonconference game, but the SEC’s conference-only schedule cancels some classic SEC-ACC rivalry games, including Florida-Florida State and South Carolina-Clemson. The Big 12 is the lone Power 5 conference that has not announced schedule changes, but reports say Big 12 presidents will meet Monday with multiple scenarios under consideration.
