Scotland County Senior Makes First Trip To State Fair Queen Pageant Successful

Elsie Kigar will begin her senior year of high school with a new tiara.  The Scotland County senior emerged from a field of 41 contestants to become this year’s Missouri State Fair Queen.  Kigar said she was surprised by the result.

While other contestants won each portion of the pageant, Kigar earned enough high marks across all phases to win the crown and a two-thousand dollar scholarship.

In addition to FFA, Kigar is involved in Scotland County’s color guard and trapshooting teams.  She will represent the Missouri State Fair around the state over the next year, succeeding Rosie Lenz of Boonville.

First runner-up and a $1000 scholarship went to Miss Lincoln County, Grace Rhodes.  She also won the speech contest.
Second runner-up and a $500 scholarship went to Rachel Holt, representing the Carroll County Fair.  Holt picked up top marks in the interview portion.
Miss Cooper County Caroline Herigon won the talent contest and third runner-up, earning a $300 scholarship.
Lauren Bailey of Clinton FFA rounded out the top five, earning fourth runner-up and a $200 scholarship.
Miss Clark County Erin Bash was named winner of the evening gown portion of the pageant.
