Schuyler County Girls, Salisbury Boys Clinch Shares of Lewis & Clark Conference Title

The Schuyler County girls’ and Salisbury boys’ basketball teams clinched at least a share of the Lewis & Clark Conference with wins Friday night at Salisbury High School. In the girls game, Schuyler County used a 9-0 run late in the first quarter to break an early tie and held on late for a 53-47 win over Salisbury. The Lady Rams led by as many as twelve , but saw their lead cut down to five points on multiple occasions in the second half. Kait Hatfield provided some breathing room late for the Lady Rams.

Jacie Morris led all scorers with 21 points. Schuyler County girls coach Thomas Kirkland said it was good to see Morris battle back from some recent adversity.

Schuyler County improves to 19-4 overall and remains unbeaten in the Lewis and Clark Conference. Salisbury drops to 16-7 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Tori Ricketts led the Lady Panthers with 15 points while Emersyn Hammons added eleven. Salisbury girls coach Barry Graskewicz said it was good for his young team to experience a game of this magnitude.

The Salisbury boys outscored Schuyler County 23-10 in the second quarter on their way to an 82-56 victory. Cooper Francis led the Panthers with 23 points while London White added 16. Ten different Panthers landed in the scoring column. Salisbury boys coach Kenny Wyatt said they’re starting to develop some scoring depth.

The Rams were led by Kale Windy with 23 points. Connor Smith added twelve points on four three-pointers. Schuyler County boys coach Chris Prewitt said Salisbury’s defensive adjustments hurt them.

Salisbury improves to 20-3 on the season and 7-0 in the conference. Schuyler County falls to 15-8 overall and 4-3 in the L&C.
