Schrader Leads Truman To A Win At McKendree

Cody Schrader rushed for 217 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Truman State to a 44-13 victory at McKendree this afternoon (Sat.). Nolan Hair threw two touchdown passes including one to Matt Hall to open the scoring on the Bulldogs second possession….

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Schrader followed with touchdown runs of 12 and one to push the lead to 21-0 before the Bearcats got on the board. Schrader scored his third rushing touchdown of the half on a five yard scamper with 2:27 left. McKendree received a lift on a 32-yard hail mary completion on the last play of the first half to make it 27-13.

Coming out of the locker room the ‘Dogs defense got a stop and the offense re-gained control of the game….

Truman coach Gregg Nesbitt was proud of how his team responded to the last play of the first half letdown to shutout the Bearcats the rest of the game….

Schrader scored his first receiving touchdown of the season early in the fourth. Bulldogs right tackle Joe Fanning left the game in the second quarter by ambulance with a serious leg injury. Coach Nesbitt said Schrader did a good job taking the lead after watching his teammate go down….

Schrader moved into second place on Truman’s all-time single season rushing list with 1,653. He is also second in season rushing touchdowns with 21. Josh Scheiderer became the all-time kick scoring leader with 262 points and second in career field goals with 38 when he connected from 25 yards to cap the scoring in the fourth.

Truman improves to 8-2 overall and 4-2 in the GLVC, while McKendree drops to 3-3 in the conference and 4-6 on the season. The Bulldogs will host Indianapolis in a battle for second place next Saturday at Stokes Stadium. You can hear the game on KRES starting at 11:15.
