A perennial playoff participant will face a relative newcomer when the Salisbury Lady Panthers host the Community Lady Trojans in a Class 1 Sectional softball game Wednesday at 5:30 pm. Salisbury is coming off winning their sixth straight district title after beating Cairo 8-0 Friday and bring an 18-5 record into the sectional matchup. While the Lady Panthers were able to cruise in the district tournament, Salisbury coach Nate King knows they will have to refocus in order to beat Community.

While focusing on the fundamentals will be a factor in the game, King feels the backing of the Salisbury fanbase will be important as well.

On the other side, the Community Lady Trojans have been away from the softball state playoffs for a considerable time period. However, the softball program did win the school’s lone state title back in 1995. The Lady Trojans have compiled a 15-9 record this season. Community head coach Madison Henke says jumping on Salisbury starting pitcher Bryn Wooldridge early will be crucial.
