Salisbury Hosts Silex in Sectional Softball Matchup

The Salisbury Lady Panthers host the Silex Lady Owls in a Class 1 sectional softball matchup tomorrow. The Lady Panthers are 14-10 on the season after defeating Cairo 10-9 in ten innings in the district title, giving the Lady Panthers their eighth district title in nine years. Coach Nate King says the offense has been taking good approaches at the plate.

Kaisen Carter leads the Lady Panthers with 27 runs batted in, while pitcher Jaden Howard has slugged two home runs. Howard has struck out 119 batters in the circle this season. King says Howard has been effective this year.

On the other side, Silex picked up its 18th win and third straight district title with a 6-2 win over Clopton. Coach Rebecca Pralle says pitcher Karlie Ellis has done a good job of stepping in for graduated all-state pitcher Taylor Howard.

Offensively, Maddy Hall leads the Lady Owls with a .412 average, four home runs and 36 runs batted in. Silex is averaging eight runs a game. Pralle highlights other leaders for the offense.

The teams have split two playoff meetings since 2018, with Salisbury winning the last sectional matchup in 2020. Pregame coverage begins at 4:45 on KIRK and centralmoinfo.com. Brandon Monty has the call.
