Salisbury Eyes Third Straight State Championship Game

The defending Class 1 state champion Salisbury Lady Panthers will look to make it back to the state championship game for the third straight year in a semifinal contest against Vienna Wednesday. The Lady Panthers scored nine runs in the first two innings in their quarterfinal victory over Leeton. Coach Kathryn Bachtel says the team thrives on an aggressive approach at the plate.

Bachtel says it will take a collective effort from each player to attain victory.

Vienna enters the contest 20-4 and coach Mick Byrd says his team is very solid all-around.

Marsie Messersmith will provide a tough test for Salisbury in the circle. She pitched a perfect game in the district championship, no-hitter in the sectional and didn’t allow a walk in the quarterfinal.

You can hear the game on 99.9 The Captain with pregame starting at 2:45 and first pitch at 3. Austin Ward will have the call.
