Rockhurst Teams Rally To Sweep Truman
Both Truman teams let 13 point halftime leads get away and were swept by Rockhurst today (Sat.) in Kansas City. For the Bulldog men, the 84-78 loss was especially bitter as they were trying to keep their hopes for a top seed in the conference tournament alive and bounce back from a loss at SBU ahead of the next NCAA Midwest Regional rankings. Nick Volz celebrated his senior day by scoring 30 points to lead the Hawks to victory. Coach Jeff Horner said his team did not adjust well to the physicality of the game….
Cade McKnight led Truman with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Bulldogs finish the regular season with a conference mark of 13-6 and will be the three seed in the GLVC Tournament. The ‘Dogs get a rematch with Rockhurst at Pershing Arena on Monday night. The Hawks snapped an eight-game losing streak and will come to Kirksville with a record of 11-19. The Bulldogs are 19-8.
The Truman women lost 72-68. After scoring 46 first half points, the Bulldogs could only muster 22 after the break. Coach Theo Dean assessed the bad second half swing….
Ellie Weltha matched her career-high with 26 points in the loss and came up one shy of her career rebound total with 18. The Bulldogs end conference play with a record of 13-6 and will be the four seed in the GLVC Tournament. The 17-10 Bulldogs will host Quincy on Monday night in the first round of the tournament.
