Another soggy May has corn farmers having to consider if they will need to replant their fields. University of Missouri Extension agronomist Bill Wiebold says it comes down to, among other things, calculating potential outcomes.

Wiebold says time and cost would also need to be weighed. Another factor will be what temperatures might be later in the summer as the new crop emerges and begins to tassel.

MU Extension agronomist Bill Wiebold says a guide for farmers considering replanting is available online, and includes a calculator for helping determine if replanting is worth the cost.
