Reducing Stress, Promoting Immune System Keys To Show Pig Success

Fairs and competitions are fast approaching for show pig exhibitors, and ensuring their success in the showring begins with several practices on the farm.  That’s the message Greg Davis of MFA Show Feeds delivered this past weekend at the 62nd Western Farm Show in Kansas City.  Davis, whose family shows pigs from their farm in Northwest Arkansas, says one priority is reducing the amount of stress that hogs experience when transported to shows.

Davis says another priority is ensuring their health, and that also involves selecting a feed that supports their immune system.

Davis presented on effective show goat handling techniques at last year’s Western Farm Show.  He says like goats, constant access to clean water is critical for a show pig’s success.
